i really don't get it
Crazy game
Its true that your pieces are a little awkwardly placed, but your up a clean piece for a pawn before your piece sacrifice and white doesnt have any real threats. D5 is very much restrained by the double attack on the c-pawn. I'd start with taking the open file by re8. Sure, a long term plan is a bit difficult to see (assuming white stops penetration on the dfile), but thats true for white as well. We may not see the full path to victory, but I have no doubt the position is won with best play. Thing about the sacrifice is that it really opens up the position, and white has the two bishops, which matters a lot in a position like this. I dont know whether this position after the sacrifice is a win for black with best play, I kind of doubt it, and there is a high potential to actually lose the game if you slip up a bit. I get that you felt uncomfortable before the sac, but your edge is smaller after the sac, and still potentially uncomfortable due to the power of the two bishops.
FYI, my 2600 pocket shredder likes re8 instead of the sac, rating it -1.9 -- about what I expected. However, it liked the sac better than I thought it would, rating it around -1. In looking at it closer, white's pawns are targets, and white's bishops are not really harmonizing that well despite what I termed an open position, so the computer is essentially giving you full credit for the extra pawn.
Whats so good about 14. bxc3? I feel that it give whie good counter play. I'm a begginer at chess, so pardon if I don't see the obvious.
It was a mistake, now I realise. But I felt under pressure and in time trouble. What would have been your move, kapooky?
Hi,
I just played this really crazy game. I enjoyed it a lot, despite my losing. I think in the end I erred beacuse of time trouble. I spent too long thinking in the middlegame. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the game; and please bear in mind the ratings!
I know some blunders were made. What I'd like are comments about strategy.
Thank you very much!
