Creating game boards with variations

I've searched the forums and help without success, so I'll ask my fellow members here.

When playing in vote chess games, it's great to see all of the gameboards that people will insert into their comments.  With those boards, you can show a sequence of moves with multiple variations.

When I'm playing in my own online games, I make frequent use of the analysis board available there.  However, I see no way to "save" the variations I work through as a gameboard in my game notes there.  It would be great to be able to save those moves and variations in an easily re-playable way.

Have any of you figured out a way to do this?  All I can think of would be to "save" my analysis board moves from my  game as a gameboard in a forum post, but those would not be "private" notes anymore.
