Did I miss anything?

I'm playing a game that's going to draw, I'm very pleased with the result, as it is against a 2100+ player!

My question is here, did I miss moves that could've won this game for me? I've added some of my thoughts. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

yeah how is that a draw?

You people need to learn your endgame tactics..  But anyway, that was a great game decoy.  I didn't see any obvious way to win it, even though your opponent did make a few mistakes.

nice draw,

after 38 you had to take the a pawn.

afterwards you have one extra pawn but also a separated king. So I think the draw was in your favor and I can't see any missed opportunities in the endgame. I think there were other ways but all lead to a draw or lose.

No mistakes or decisive moves I could've made during the opening / middle game?

There don't seem to be any serious mistakes; It was just too simple of a game. There were too many exchanges, and they all panned out to be rather equalizing. It seemed like he was wanting to play to a draw.

I guess he just misread the ending. Maybe I am only able to say that with hindsight, now that I saw how the ending didn't work out, but that seems like a pretty big misread for a >2100 player. A player rated that highly should understand how a rook's pawn works and been able to calculate the draw in that line. He kept playing, though, long past when a draw was guaranteed. It was as if he was surprised by it.

12.Bf4 is where he decided to leave the book. 12.Qd1 is the book move, which performs very well. 12...Ne5 was not that good, since 13.Bxe5 dxe5 gives white a strong passed pawn. 14.Ne4 was also mediocre as it allowed you to strengthen your e-pawn and push back his pieces. At first glance, 14.Qe3 looked better. I would have played 15...f5 and 16...e4 right then. 15...a6 just seems like fiddling around when there are more important matters in the middle. I would have liked to see 19...Bd4. After that, it was just a poorly played endgame by white, who had the advantage. He should have kept his pieces on the board and tried to shove the passed pawns down your throat. Instead, he exchanged off his pieces, and his connected passed pawns for your relatively harmless a and b pawns. Again, I suppose he just misread the ending.

Anyways, very well played game, and a draw was well deserved. A draw with black, 650 points the underdog, is never easy, so good job.

Thanks for analysing the entire game! I reckon I was just lucky here. My second game will start soon against this player. I hope to get at least the very same result with white.

hi decoy great game i just wanted to ask you why did you play qb6 that was the move that gave him the counterplay on the queenside and later on the draw anyway you played the endgame excellent congratsulations.i just wanted to tell you that you could have won if you didn't play that move it would be good for you to say what you were thinking inside this forum when you played this move great game anyway thanks for posting itLaughing

No idea what the exact idea was behind that move. I guess pressuring the queenside. My queen was very passive on d1 intill move 19.
