I would say you definitely had the better opening, controlling the centre quickly and developing all your pieces. It's strange to see black open with a dual fianchetto, first time in my life in fact. I think the midgame was fairly equal but black seemed to have a better position. The move 26 ... Rh8? not only moves the rook to an inactive square but also loses position to attack and defend. It also served the purpose of giving the king one less escape square as you were able to take advantage of in the mid-end game. A better move would perhaps been ...e4 or ...Qxc4. Nice mating net by the way!

8.d5 was unnecessary--you could have played O-O or a3 instead.  After Black gained material, he got reckless with pawn moves and missed 18...f5 with a solid advantage.  26...Rh8 doesn't do much--probably should have played h5, but not Qxc4 because then 27. Nxe5 looks dangerous.

27 nxe5 might be more dangerous with that rook on h8 blocking a retreat square.

wow, black mustve really screwed up if three people say black had a positional advantage and still lost to a below average player like me...
