His rating looks fake. Search his rated games and you'll see he has long series of win vs the same opponent... all wins in 3 moves.

This doesn't happen just once or twice.

I see. But what makes things really confusing is that he has a good, but not perfect, score against titled players with mixed accuracies, not suspiciously perfect games.

Chess.com search function is screwing up, so I could only search the last 2 years.

In the last 2 years, I filtered out unrated games and opponents rated below 2000. He's played a grand total of 9 games, and won zero.

In unrated, he's played 2300 games against players over 2000. He's won 13%... many of them in fewer than 10 moves...

Wow...... what a crazy profile, right?

You okay bro???

I love the chess sleuths on here. It's very entertaining, kind of like watching a Sherlock Holmes movie except it's on chess.com.

Seems I didn't go deep enough...

ha I can probably do blindfold bullet and still beat a 1000 a couple times... just move fast, premove, and wait for it to end...

maybe it is blindfold, ever thought of asking them?

I happen to know a 1000 bullet. Mind if I ask him if he wants to participate in this experiment?

Sure, dont have much free time but seems interesting

I haven't played a 1000 bullet in a while...

It's elementary.

He did lose to a couple of other lower rated individuals in unrated that day, so...

Prob just a bad day then.

It is quite fun listening to theories from Chess.com's great minds.

This and he's using an USB steering wheel to enter his moves. Also it was his step cousin playing not him.

I tried a bullet experiment (1|0) with a new account. I was only allowed to move knights and pawns for the first 30 moves (recaptures and any legal move to get out of check was allowed).

I was able to stay above 1500... so yeah, shuffling around blindfolded to stay above 1000 shouldn't be hard.

Really? I think I'll disregard this "theory" because I have the distinct impression I'm being trolled. And no, I don't think he was playing blindfolded, or playing by phone, or playing on three chess sites at once or any other joking theories you have.

May I see a couple of those games?

I actually did it on this account. I was going to do 100 games, but after 30 or so I realized I'd be pretty hard stuck at 1500s so I stopped.

So just look at the first bullet games I played on this account. You can tell when I started playing for real because I went on a 50 game winning streak tongue.png

The mere fact that online ratings can be so easily manipulated should tell everybody that otb real tournament ratings are much more significant. So when people keep posting threads asking about comparing online ratings to otb, just stop. Everybody is UNRATED unless they play in real tournaments otb.

A very funny game from @llama47's experiment.

I officially need to try this.

llama47

The dangerous thing is when you can't make knight moves... for example one knight is traded off and the other is pinned... if this happens on move 20, you have to make 10 pawn moves in a row... so it's like you're already lost.

I did notice that, so it must be infuriating when you play players that love to trade bishops for knights. It seemed like you were going to lose the second game because you were out of knight moves and had to push your 'a' pawn while White was aiming the catapults at your king!

llama47

Then I got to move 31 just in time to play Rh7 happy.png

There were a few games like that, where move 31 came at a very good time.

alphaous

Very exciting indeed!
