Really?! even a queen?????
did u know...

Actually, GarriKasparov, that information is incorrect.
You do not have to promote to a piece that has already been captured. For example, you can promote to a new queen, even if your original is still on the board.

Any pawn that advances to the eighth rank may be promoted to a queen, rook, bishop or knight. It is therefore possible (although unlikely) to have as many as nine queens of one color on the board. Also possible would be up to ten rooks, bishops or knights. Most pawn promotions are queens, however there are some instances where another type of piece is preferable. Promoting to a knight instead of a queen might be more desirable if the knight gives check (or checkmate).
The promotion rule is a major factor in endgame play, where the advantage of a single pawn may decide the game IF it can be safely promoted. Alternatively, if a player is forced to trade a piece for a dangerous pawn, a winning advantage may be obtained.
Pawn promotions also figure prominently in chess puzzles and position studies.
