Dutch Defense

HI Everyone.

I occassionally play Dutch Defense BUt i am confused that which one is better to use leningrad or stonewall?

As is the case with most openings, whatever you like better.

Well, the Leningrad is harder to play but it is probably better as well. With the stonewall you are relying on your opponent not being able to fend off the crudely organized attack (which already seems to be the case in the diagram you posted). The variations you gave are like what someone who knows nothing about the Dutch Defense would play. If white knew anything about the main lines (and didn't play an Anti-Dutch), they would play g3 and Bg2 at some point instead of e3 and Bd3 in order to dampen black's kingside attack in the middlegame. That g2 bishop really helps play solid defense in the white side of the Dutch

If white plays these setups you have given you should be delighted since there is a higher chance for your attack to succeed =D

-especially in the stonewall b/c white has to be more careful in not allowing Bxh2+ Greek Gift Tricks whereas with g3/Bg2, the g3 pawn prevents this Greek Gift Sacrifice in the Stonewall.

Overall though, in the Dutch in general, black's two main weaknesses are king safety and the queenside. The g2 bishop helps white exert pressure in the center and on the q-side as well as playing a defensive role.

Don't forget the lesser known Classical Variation, which is making something of a comeback. There is a great book on it by Simon Williams. The Classical setup involves pawns on F5, E3, and D2. It is less sharp than the leningrad, but avoids the gaping hole that is problematic in the stonewall.

Very strongly disagree. In the Modern stonewall there are many different and flexible plans for Black.
