White had a winning position before playing 27. Nxf8 … Black can then effectively force a draw with 27. … hxg3. The best White would be able to do is perpetually check Black’s king for a draw, otherwise Black has a forced mate threat starting with gxf2+. While checkmate can be prevented with 28. Qxg3/fxg3/Re3, all of those moves are losing for White.
