Finding Plans

Hey guys,

Had this position in a recent game and was looking for some input!

(I was White and it's my move)

This is the kind of position I always struggle with: all the pieces on the board, no real weaknesses to target, equal but maybe some very slight pull for me (white).

What I want to know is how people would generate a plan for both players (mostly white tongue.png) in a position like this. My initial thoughts are to play Nxc6 and f3 but after that I don't see what to do next. How would you go about creating imbalances in the position?

(For those that care, in the game I decided the best idea was to blunder a piece then find a cheapo to win tongue.png)

I guess you are a bit stronger than I am, I got to 1913 USCF.  I can't really see anything else - tried out a few things with Stockfish, but it seems like if you screw around with anything other than the exchange/f3 "plan" the engine immediately starts preferring black.  It could just be one of those Magnus-wouldn't-end-up-here type of positions where you may have to play as soundly as possible and see what happens.
