1500 elo game analysis

I reached a rating of 1500 in live blitz chess (5 0) today for the first time, so I decided that it would be an appropriate time to review some of my games if I hope to continue in my improvement. This is the first of 8 that I plan to review over the course of a few days.

I often see people asking for intermediate players annotated games on posts of expert game analysis, so I hope some of those people see this. The annotations are pretty heavy, so hopefully if I get some feedback as to whether or not that is helpful at all I can revise my method.

Obviously my sidelines can only be taken so seriously given that I do not know what the most accurate moves would be, but what is one to do.

1. 5.Qxd4 is without a doubt the correct recapture (Though you could also consider gambiting the pawn with 5.c3), since the queen is very well centralized.

2. Don't just develop for the sake of development! 6.Be3?! just puts the bishop in the way of the rook once it comes to the e-file. 6. 0-0 or Bf4 were better.

3. White has a nice tactic after 8...Nxe4. Can you find it?

4. you write that 20...Qxe4 is met with 21.Bd3, but then 21...Qh4 holds. however, 21.Nxf6 wins obviously.

A very nice game! Keep playing like this, and one day, you'll become a master!

If you are going to apply this level of intensity to your analysis (which is great and will take you far I think) you should consider playing slower time controls (chess.com turn based) to work with deeper chess (and have better games to analyze when you're done, too.)

You outplayed your opponent in the opening. I think you missed an early opportunity.  6.Qd5 threatening Qxf7# (notice how he doesn't have the Nh6 resource because of his silly pawn) and Qxb7, winning material.

I didn't even consider benefits of having the queen centralised. JG27Pyth's line shows how I could have used that to my advantage rather than simply thinking it was a punching bag for his development to gain tempo. The 8.Nxe4 tactic follows the same idea as his post as well, I doubt I would have found it at the time though.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
