fried liver question

First post. First chess question. Sorry if I am doing this wrong.

Starting to learn the lines in fried liver as my first opening. Searched but cannot find best move for 16. Qf6. All the videos I find do not have black playing queen to f6.

I tried to create the game, not sure if I screwed it up. See pasted code below.

[Event "?"]

[Site "?"]

[Date "????.??.??"]

[Round "?"]

[White "?"]

[Black "?"]

[Result "*"]

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 d5 5. exd5 Nxd5 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Qf3+ Ke8

8. Bxd5 Qf6 *

What is the best move here?

I would just play Qd1. Black wants to trade queens to halt the attack and you need to keep an eye on c2 as blacks knight can jump to d4. You won the knight back and black can't castle, be happy with that and don't get greedy.

I would play Bxc6+. Trade down and enjoy the extra pawn.

Thanks for the link kco!!!  I was not sure how to post the actual game in a working view.  Very cool.  I am still paying this game with a buddy but we are way past this point.

I will read all the very helpful comments and see what I can learn from you guys.  I really appreicate the thoughtful responses.

As wella s I can interpret the post, he is talking about opening theory and not an actual game.

"starting to learn the lines in the fried liver as my main opening..."

He is just asking about lines.

"I tried to create the game"

Is definitely strange to me... but I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to these things. He could be refering to a game he already played or refering to a line as a "game".

The whole Nxf7 attack seemed fishy to me, but I couldn't figure out why. After king retakes and exd5, Nxd5 is a blunder, allowing white to gain an advantage when he is quite far behind.

Here is what stockfish gave me:

I think that this attack is risky at best, admittidly if black falls for Nxd5 white has an advantage, but it really is only good for low level blitz games. B5 is a very natural move but the lines are fairly difficult to calculate, making nxd5 is a decent trap for blitz.

It is a little column A and a little column B.  That position was from an actual game and from a game that was still being played.  When i posted the question we were a lot of moves past the section that i asked about.

I understand that it would be cheating and unfair to get help during the game.  Also I am playing with a close friend on "chess with friends" so it is far from a ligit game.  We often mess around trying to learn and get better.  no harm no foul.

I posted above how the rest of the game went.  I castled at the point i had asked about.  I was not sure if i missed some huge move to keep the pressure.  After i castled he was able to get a good fork on me.  In the end i kept pressure and got lucky with a win.

After seeing the rest of the game i would love to hear what you guys think either/both of us did bad or good.  I have never discussed a game with real players so any thoughts would be very helpful.

thanks all!

Sorry i am having trouble with this whole new lexicon of terms.  I meant i was having trouble creating the pgn and getting it inserted into the post so you guys could review the moves.  :)
