I've decided to follow Botvinnik's advice and I'm sending a letter to some senior members of the Party... I mean, analyzing and sharing my OTB rated games for general mocking. Except for 4 games in 2001-2002 season (I used to play King's Gambit and come moderately drunk to the play room those days, so it's a shame I didn't preserve any scoresheet), I started playing OTB in standard time controls a year ago. The following is my first game:

This is the only win I'll post, for the moment. Last season I played 7 games with a result of +3 =1 -3, but one of the wins was on forfeit and another one in a game with a kid who was dropping pieces all the time, so it lacks of interest. This season I've only played a game and it was a loss.

Me? Never!

My mistake, 25. ...Qf4!? should be 25. ...Qf4?! Laughing

Wow, thank you very much, Oogie. I knew this was a good idea. Your comments are very interesting, I've checked the variations and I'll think about the ideas behind. But, to be honest, the exchange sacrifice was simply a blunder. :D

Pulpofeira

Joder, it's true!

5..Bd6 was correct, as pfren would say. He might also say something to the effect "if you were unsure about c5, why did you play it? because it was your move and you gotta move something? not a big enough reason! maybe you wanted to stop Nd4, but if you were white would you want to play Nd4? nah! thought not".

Pulpofeira

He, he! Indeed!

Interesting game, Dani. I particularly liked how your opponent's pawns made a wall against which you could checkmate. Looking forward to more of your games. :)

A good game, specially OTB. Regarding c5, I think it's much better to stick to the principles if you're unsure, and simply develop the Bishop to d7, followed by castling.

7...0-0. I believe 7...d4 would have been much more spectacular and better in the long run.

I gotta go now, be back in a while :)

Aetheldred

Oh! 2...d5 Ithink is the best continuation for black, it makes black game comfortable.

TheGreatOogieBoogie

13...d3! is indeed a good move, at worst for black leads to a pawn up on the queenside and at best white could miscalculate something giving black even more.  It is that queenside majority advantage (albeit two vs. one instead of four vs. three or three vs. two, but it's still something and the shorter majority is usually better anyway especially on the queenside but here black is the only one with a majority) and a slight initiative that black wants to milk.

Dingova? Dinčić? I forgot. This girl?

Dinkova. Ok, I got the chance to join a little tourney this month. Initially it was supposed to be a 7 rounds Swiss with 60/30 time control, along two weekends, but since only 10 people joined they decided to change to a Round Robin with 9 rounds during only last Saturday and Sunday, time controls 60/0. I didn't notice because I asked for a bye for the first round, and when I arrived Saturday in the afternoon two rounds were already completed. But I missed third too, because my opponent had asked for a bye himself, so I started on 4th with 1.5 points without playing a single game. This was my first one (danger: your eyes may bleed):

Pulpofeira

Later we had to play all the five remaining games on Sunday!

Keep posting!

Btw, you really should have played the variation you showed. Well, you said you were in time trouble, so maybe not without increment, but this must be winning for white, isn't it? You sacrifice the bishop and get some additional pawn for it I guess.

Pulpofeira

What, after 36. Bc3+? But 39. Kh2 seems forced, and after 39. ...Re1 anyway?

Pulpofeira

Yes, could be worthy to consider if there was increment for example. Sadly I had 5 minutes remaining against 9 for him.
