Keep in mind that not all chess player put the same amount of time investment in the game.

Those who invest time into studying their games in depth also invest in software like ChessBase. It is far better for serious analysis that anything this site will ever have.

Yes I have chessbase with the mega database. I am not so fond of Fritz 17 but Chessbase is really good.

I use Stockfish and Komodo.

Any engine designed for 64 bit machines is adequate for 95% of the positions I need to evaluate. Even Fritz 5.32 is good enough for 80%.

And  that bring me back to my post who get exactly zero reply...

Well yes one that I had to "interpret".

But what is the difference in playstyle between the engine. Every engine is strong enough to beat me, but it would be nice to know what are the difference in style.

I suppose that Leila is more positional (as alpha zero clearly do not favor material gain) but for the other engine I have no clue.

You should try out brilliant-chess com. Its UI is similar to Chess.com, it includes brilliant moves, and it allows you to import games from Chess.com without needing to copy and paste the PGN.

I used to use chessbase, but the software has a lot of tools that aren't super clear unless you comb through their (not so clear) manual. I've recently come across a program called "en croissant" that has all the basic functionalities of chessbase for free. I've also tried scid vs pc, and almost felt like killing myself.

Here's their board UI:

As you can see, there's also a database and annotations tab, which admittedly needs some work (You can't just annotate things like '!' or '!?' or '+/=' etc like in most analysis boards).

However, I think the part where you can simply download megabase through the program is very nice (you just have to press the download button):

The chess engines are the same. You simply press the install button and the program integrates it for you. It's very convenient.

If you're looking for more then you'll have to keep looking. But I don't think it's worth spending hundreds on chessbase anymore.

Chessigma's analysis tool uses Stockfish 17. The latest version of Stockfish is version 18, released in January.

Stockfish versions aside, what do you think makes Chessigma's analysis worth using instead of other analysis tools?

lichess or chessigma

Lichess is useful.

I’ve been using ChessBase 25 years, so I’m sticking with it. Moving my personal db of 140,000+ games is more trouble than it’s worth.

I also have every game published in Chess Informant and dozens of other specialized databases built over a quarter century of near daily use.

Fair enough. I have not even been alive for 25 years.

Why you remove "Retry" and replace with "Explain" in Game Review??? It is surely a misstep. A great deal of effort maybe has gone into Duolingo but does anyone gain foreign language fluency with that app? You have replaced a more active learning with a more passive learning.
