getting maimed when playing a KID :)

I am a bit infatuated with playing KID.

Being a fan of Bronstein and having nothing in common with the man short of the hairdo can prove to be troublesome when one is also obsessed with winning at chess.

Sometimes I'll even have a go at turning an e4 opening into KID defense. The problem is... I pretty much always lose! Can you help? I tried to put my own thoughts into it, but I believe I'm lacking something vital in this opening, say... about 200 IQ points or something. :)

7. ... e6 is the usual approach against the Four Pawns Attack

VulpesVictor, in case it's any help, here's a game of mine vs Fritz where it played the Four Pawns Attack against me. I should point out this is actually about the 5th such game, I only play it in rated mode so I can't take back moves. It kept on playing the same line against me and I finally learned enough from my mistakes to beat it (suitably emasculated)

Thank you, gentlemen :)

I'll look into it, Paul, looks interesting all ready. I have the wiki on it lying about somewhere, but the .pdf might just be more helpful in the explain why department.

Nick, I get ya (he quit, right?). Looks healthy enough, I'll try to implement that one and see what happens, I suspect. :)

This was a slightly unusual 4-pawns attack. 6.h3 looks a little odd. I wonder if 6...Nh5 isn't good. (7.Nf3 c5). 8...e6 also looks interesting, The main point is that you really need to get right to work on undermining White's center. If you wait around until White consolidates, you will be permanently cramped

Plausible suggestion for a sollution to my ails, seeing as I always wanna (un)develop* in stead of pushing through in the openings. Thanks. :)

The reason I posted this, by the way, is that I've been wondering if I'd be better off forgetting about Bronstein and the KID for a while (untill I'm more familiar with the main themes of the queenside opening anyways) and just going with the slav/semi slav instead... That's the one i see the most when playing the queens opening, and it's usually quite effective/equal play'ish.

Oh well, probably wont hurt to do a bit of theory before giving up - again, thanks, gentlemen :)
