Good trade for endgame: 2 knights for a rook 2 pawns?

It is a point ahead i made with better pawn structure, but in the end i have one less piece. Now i face that i cant exchange pieces to change track of opponent's pawn, or just eliminate annoying piece - i have 2 rooks. So is it a good trade facing the endgame?

Yes, but i think is it generally a good idea or not to have this exchange if i can force it? Not specifically in a game.

It depends so much on the position, that you won't get a proper reponse here without a diagram.

Here is the position

Umm where are the two knights, and it is not really an endgame... but anyway.

If black can get connected pawns moving with c5, and d5 looks like he would have advantage. White's minor peices are not very active, and looks difficult to find a stable square for knight. It is not clear cut though because black square bishop could be strong. Overal prefer black.

Thank you!
This position is after the exchange, so the knights are gone already. And of course this is not the endgame, my question aimed that after equal exchanges (if able to), is the remaining pieces could bring difficulties to me, as i would have less piece.
