Here's another great one.

Extraordinary

I think the best games are these:

1.Kasparov-Topalov 1-0

2.Byrne-Ficher 0-1

3.Karpov-Kasparov 0-1

kosmeg,

I have seen that game before (Lasker v Thomas) and it is by far one of the best!!!

Thank you for sharing it.

i know this game's already been posted (as a link, though, not as a playable game), but i'm having a hard time understanding the brilliance of 19. Qa4. Did white not just get lucky? Black must have seen the opportunity to take white's queen...why not?

The answer must be incredibly obvious. I'm just not seein' it.

If 12.Nxa4 then 12...Nxe4 wins the bishop.

If 16.Qxc3 then 16...Rfe8 wins the bishop.(Not sure about that)

On move 17. blacj gave the queen because he took the bishop on c4 with a check, the pawn on d4 with a discovery check after 18...Bxc4+ 19.Kg1 Ne2+, the bishop on b6 with a threat to take the queen and after that the Rook on d1. That means that he took 5+3+3+1=12 for 9.

They're the masters, not you, there was a reason.
