Your opponent made several mistakes in the opening. The biggest one was free e4 pawn, but both side missed it. Before 20...Re7 you were winning in the position. You have a bishop pair, and you forced your opponent to have isolated pawns on queenside. Critical moments were 20...Re7 21.Bg5, and 29...Bxf3 30.Rxc3.
You can improve your skill by imagine what your opponent can do next. Before you make a move, imagine it has played on the board and find what could happen next. Do not think your opponent will follow your plan. Instead, find candidate moves of your opponent and think what you will do next in every situation.
