Help with computer suggestion

First things first - this game is finished. I am playing as black and it is my move.

I ended up playing as 8..Bb6. Compute classifies this move as blunder and instead suggests 8..d6.

I understand that my actual move 8..Bb6 may not be a particularly good move but how is it a blunder?

Nb5 hits the queen. Then Nd6+ stops the king in the middle.

Hit the icon on the bottom left of your diagram.  This brings up live stockfish analysis.  Put in your move, and it will show you the response.  Notmtwain is right of course, and its fine to come here and ask, because sometimes you really need human help.  However, there are some situations where the computer can really "explain" its suggestions pretty well, and this is one of them.  I suggest trying to work with the computer first, because sometimes there is an element of interactive work to it, which facilitates learning.  Every now and then, stockfish can also school you on positional play.  And other times its guidance will remain mysterious, but its helpful to give it whirl.

Thanks for the suggestion - did not know it was there. Am posting after a long time. Normally just play and go. That is a great addition to the website.

It does absolutely NOTHING to improve your position.  You're behind in development, and your king is still sitting in the middle of the board.  You had the choice of developing another piece, castling, gaining space in the center.  But you decided to move a piece that is already developed, and move it backwards.

You essentially said: "I pass"
