How brilliant moves work?

I'm a new player, the site said brilliant moves are sacrifices, I did a sacrifice to get a mate, but it wasn't a brilliant. Why? Maybe brilliant moves are sacrifices doesn't mean "all sacrifices are brilliant moves", I dont know

the reason your move isn't a brillient move is bc it's not the best option and is easier to find than a brillient move.

"Hard to find" has nothing to do with it. It is actually amazing that this nonsense is so resilient, it keeps popping up many years after it was proven false.

The real definition: a sacrifice that is good (but not necessarily the best). Also, those situations are disqualified where one side is clearly winning regardless of the move.
