I'm white and white to move. real life opponent did not play f5. so immediately checkmating him Qh7. however if the case is this. how can I finish the game? You should still be winning after f5 Qxg6. You can next play Nd5 threatening Ne7+ or Nf6+ (gxf6 is not possible because your queen pins the pawn). Another plan for checkmate in positions like this is to drop the queen back Qh5, then play g6. The black king cannot then escape on f7 and you threaten Qh8#
