Can someone tell me how did this happen? Is this a rule I'm not aware of?
I'm not a great chess player, started playing a few months ago. But this is the first time this has happen to me.
IMAGE 1: This is the position, take a look at the C4 pawn. I didn't want It to take my B2 pawn so what I did was advancing It two steps forward, so I avoid the diagonal.
IMAGE 2: My pawn's now on B4 square. Only threatened by the queen. What I didn't expect was the C4 pawn to still go in a diagonal and take my pawn on B4.
IMAGE 3: Here you can see B3 pawn (which was C4 pawn in last picture) taking my B4 pawn which was not in a diagonal, how is this possible? I've never seen this or heard about a rule like that, thought pawns only moved forward and in diagonals when pieces are there.
Can somebody explain? I understand I'm not a great player that's why I'm posting this I'm searching online and didn't find any explanation to this. If I could get the name of this move that'd be appreciated.

Let me know guys! I'm very looking forward to your feedback.
