That's an interesting comment, because when I considered getting Chessmaster and put a message up on another forum, and I was told that Shredder and Fritz were all round better than Chessmaster.
How to get the Best from Shredder
i've tested both chessmaster 10 and 11, and they're really excellent.(10€ and 30€ respectivly, can be bought virtually anywhere on the european sites).
even if chessmaster's pretended ELO level is not as high as 2970, to my mind its engine is more than fine for us, the mortals.
and the one of its pros is the one you're looking for: nice analysis. it's also put in an almost perfect english text (such as: this removes the threat, develops the center...) it's even read out loud by a digitalized voice, but that's not as important - it can get annoying.
i tried shredder and to my mind its interface (gui, ergonomics) is by far behind chessmaster.
How the interface looks (providing it works properly) has never been a problem for me. I had earlier versions of ChessMaster but had read a lot about how the analytical skills were a little weak. So when I read I should get Shredder or Fritz I looked at both programs. Fritz doesn't provide a demo though, so that's what swung it for me with Shredder.
Hi All
[EDIT] - Sorry it looks like I've put this in the wrong section.
I've got Shredder 11 UCI for my PC, and I'm just wondering how I can get the best out of it.
I want to be able to analyse my games more indepth, understand where I went wrong and how to avoid doing the same in the future.
I realise I need to use my own brain as well, but Shredder is a powerful program, there must be some help there.
