If ur really trying to improve don't play speed chess, not so much of it anyway. If ur just having fun with chess sure, play it if u want. The reason improving players don't play too much speed chess is because they're constantly learning and using their new knowledge in games. Having to move so fast doesn't give u time to think about applying what ur learning. U have to have time to plan and calculate properly and speed chess doesn't allow for that so u by necessity keep playing by intuition and repeat bad thinking patterns and mistakes over and over.
