Tell Cookie its a 4 cyliner engine from a Mitsubishi Gallant.

She says she gets it. Computer chess & all. I've been trying to teach her all the names of the pieces. I'm pretty sure she doesn't really care.

Her big hobby is men....or should I say her favorite game.

I should clarify something. Cookie is Almonda. Most people call her Cookie (St. Croix's small). Me too.

 So that must make you Amish or something right? How about the horse and buggy, ever used one of those?

I was accused of this on another site and actually felt flattered! As for the accusation on your home page you can delete this easily enough. 

With regard to Blitz and Bullet in relation to improvement my feeling is that Correspondence (daily online) in fact improves your chess a lot more, at least in terms of preparing you for classical OTB chess games with standard tournament or match time controls. I'm pretty useless at B&B. Old age and rough treatment mean that my thinking is a little slower than it was, and I feel that slower time controls (correspondence or 30 moves in 90 minutes, for example) allow me the time I need to get to thinking more deeply about particular positions, something I really enjoy and prefer to the rather superficial analysis I am only capable of with B&B.

Going back to engine usage, I generally congratulate my opponent on playing a good game if he or she beats me, whether I feel a little stung by losing to that particular opponent or not. Good manners cost nothing and after all you have in the final analysis only yourself to blame if you feel you are generally stronger than your opponent but still lost. If I were to suspect my opponent of using an engine (only suspected this once on another site) I would still praise my opponent but would lay it on much thicker. If I am wrong and an engine isn't used, then the extra layers of praise can't hurt; if I am right, however, then the heavy praise should make him or her feel stupid, assuming he or she is capable of any self knowledge or reflection.

(I say 'he' or 'she' advisedly because on the only occasion I was accused, my accuser first established that I was male before making his accusation. Either he thought he would be gallant in some sexist kind of way, and/or he felt that women were incapable of using engines. This isn't to imply you as a woman, Lola, were cheating in any way, I hasten to add!)
