Hello, Guys... Even till today I am only using the Chessimo 3.36 for all my chess works. However I came upon many types of forums stipulating that We need to analyse our games using an engine. When I tried the crafty on chessimo, I was shocked... there were these character and legends I could not understand and I was really confused.....Isnt there an Engine I should buy so that I can receive pretty human like annotation as well as comments on my moves like, " That was bad, a clear loss of Knight"......

Friends, I wud be glad if it were an online service also... But considering the internet access provided to me, I am not that hopeful. Pray suggest me a software which is capable of using the top engines with SOUND conscience to give me SOUND advice and comments....

Thanks in advance, cheers and G'day!!!Smile

The latest Chessmaster is "humanlike" and gives verbal advice but if you want really good analisis you should learn to interpret the analisis of the Chessbase engines they are the best.

Houdini, Critter, Stockfish, Rybka, IvanHoe, Igorrit, FireBird, Komodo, Strelka. All are better than the current world no1, they will all anaylze positions around as well, it's only when you play them against each other that you can really notice the difference in strengths. They're all good dude, just pick one and go with it. :D good luck

Unfortunately, there is no chess engine that can annotate games like humans do. Chessmaster is the closest you may get for human-like annotation, but the annotation is still bad. Unless you are a beginner, I wouldn't recommend chessmaster's annotation. It may be better to look at the variations it gives than to read its comments. Chessmaster's engine is also not that good. It fails to understand a number of strategic positions.

Fritz, Rybka, Houdini, Stockfish, etc. may have a better understanding of the positions than the King (the chessmaster's chess engine). However, they are only capable of spitting out variations after variations. They can't generalize certain ideas and put them in words like humans do. It's up to you to look at the variations they give and develop your own conclusion. Sometimes you may need to disregard certain recommendations made by chess engines. They may give you a recommendation that only after 15 moves later you will see the benefits. There is no way for humans will be able to see that far.

The best approach is still to join a local chess club, and ask a stronger player there to analyze your game for you.

Fritz puts in variations.

If you want the market leader get fritz 13 and put in Houndini 2.0c.

Fritz 13 is good just know the common annotation symbols to understand what the computer thinks.

Check out HIARCS 14 as well since its releasing soon.
