baconarmy17, when you make a move, you have to remember that you have an opponent and consider his response--especially CHECKS and CAPTURES. In your game against mathwiz_08 you hung a queen and a knight within six moves. The first step to improving is to stop throwing away pieces for free.

I would also encourage familiarizing yourself with opening principles.

I also went over your longer game against mathwiz_08 (47 moves). In general you made the same kinds of errors, but one positon stuck out:

You played 15...Raxc8?? here. Your obvious candidate moves (CHECKS and CAPTURES) were Qxa1+, Raxc8, Rhxc8, Kxc8. Qxa1 wins a ROOK (worth 5 pawns) while the other moves win a BISHOP (worth 3 pawns). Qxa1+ should have been your preference and not choosing it either reveals you misvalue pieces or don't examine all checking moves.

15...Raxc8?? is terrible for another reason. Afterwards, you didn't consider your opponent's response (CHECKS, CAPTURES). This would have immediately turned up 16.Qe7+! and now you're in huge trouble. Your king flees to b8 or b6 where Rb1+ and mate follows.

I hope this helps. :)
