I won! ...But why?

This was a five minute game. When I made the winning move, I had maybe 14 seconds left on my clock. My opponent had about a minute. Obviously they could have won on time if they had not captured my knight with their queen and so it is safe to say that their blunder resulted in my win.

But why do you think they blundered?

I believe my opponent may have been so focused on getting their queen in to that pawn cluster in order to secure a checkmate that they forgot about my rook down yonder.

I haven't figured out how to annotate my games yet but if you would like to analyze the rest of the game then be my guest. I don't normally play 5 minute games so it is hard to say what exactly was going through my head during any particular moves though I think it is obvious that I went for the queen/rook mate earlier and was blocked.

I was really psyched over this win at first but then I went back and looked at it and realized that I really only won on my opponent's blunder. I'm still kind of proud of it though because I only had 14 seconds left and I don't normally work well under that sort of pressure.

6.Nc3 protecting the pawn and developing

6.f5 makes a hole on e5, hangs the pawn, and does nothing for development.

The only lesson you should take from this game is on move 6
