No, chess is not a game of war. It's a game of love and relationships. My queen always wants to schmooze with holy men that wear crosses on their head, but she specifically doesn't want to do it with any holy men of the same color as her!

I believe that the game is war because it was made at the time when war battles were on a field, where several armies met.
