Just coming out being honest. I have no idea what makes weak dark and white square'sUndecided not that I forgot or anything just never learned. but here's a game I played against a tough class C player but I felt it showed a good deal of weak color squares but idk Can you guys tell me if it did and at what points of the game it showed. (This game is fairly recent like a few days ago no tourney just a casuel game.)

P.S. the last comment explains the early draw.

Not so much about weak dark/light (?) squares, as it is for the control of space.

I think if white had played 10.e4 that is a good example of weak whit and darksquares or it could be you center pawn chain of the dark squares   insuring white with weak dark squares but im just a clueless as you are with the subjectUndecided.

Nice game never seen the pawns fly across the board like this without any mistaakes but who knows ther might be and my weak amatures mind just can't see it. Foot in mouth

Having just transitioned from a beginner to the threshold of an intermediate many chess concepts are just coming into the grasp of my understanding. I do know that sometimes holes develop where I can land a piece because my opponent is exerting little to no force there.

What is weak for one side might be quite strong for the other. As time goes on I hope to gain a more solid learn more regarding weak squares.

Couldn't agree more what are some general questions you have about chess I could probably answer a few or we might wonder the same things.Smile

I don't think 10 e4 would be a good move at all.

do you mind telling why ?

Consider what you have done to your bishop.  It had a wonderful diagonal and now you have locked it in and made it bad.  Your only reasonable play in such a situation is Bh3 to trade it off...thus using up more tim

In the following game the bishop  was one of the most helpful piecies (you need to bend the rule's sometime'sWink)

I'd move up the pawn to e3 (10, e3). It doesn't really weaken white defence and breaking blacks advanced pawn formation, or atleast decimating it seems like a good idea. Also, white can use some space as whites pieces are kind of cramped.

Moving up the pawn would also allow white to activate his knight on the freed e2 square and later castle on the kingside.
