Just a game

Ok game, weak opponent thoug. You should try with 1.e4 if you want more tactics.
Weak opening? Other than the weird 4.a3 move, it's a very good opening, and EVEN 4.a3 has been played in the past. The formation both sides get to is very reasonable and it's a very good opening.
Switching to e4? as if it has any superiority over d4... Just a matter of taste.
white was always either equal or better in this game, and black was ok too until ...Na5. And even then his position was just slightly worse. Blundering a pawn was what sent the game into a spin.
I missed to mention, after 18.axb4 Qxd4+ 19.Kh1 Qxc4 loses a Bishop.
Heh. You missed something else with this tactic. Go a couple of moves back... Read your comments to 16.e4 again. Look at the board once more. See my point?:)
16...Bxb4 works now.
The best white can get is 17.Bxf7 Kxf7 18.Qb3+ Be6 19.Qxb4 a5 and now, if white's queen retreats, d4 falls with catastrophiv consequences, so
20.Qa4 b5 21.Qd1 b4 (annoying queenside pawns... It's a long forced line...) 22.axb4 axb4 23.Rxa8 Qxa8 and now, if the knigh retreats, e4 falls, which would lead to a much worse position for white, so
24.e5 bxc3 25.exf6 Bc4 (still a long line, but white's replies were pretty much forced all along, if he wanted to avoid a clearly worse position) 26.Re1 c2
Who is better in the resulting position? not sure... but definitely white does not control it.
He can try 27.Qh5+ g6 28.Qxh7 Kxf6
white has a perpetual... lucky. he was already being pushed back to a bad position.
Sooooo, back to the game, after 16.e4?!
16...Nh5 is just a blunder, and you punish it well. Now, with the central pawns no longer temporarily weak, black doesn't have the tricks he had in the previously mentioned variation. Nevertheless, I think 20...a5 is the only try to continue playing at all... (21.Qxb7 Re7 22.Qxc6 Rc8 23.Qf3 23...Qxd4+ 24.Be3 Qc3 Of course the knight on h5 will fall and white will have a two pawn advantage, but at least here, while black is still lost, he has some play and the pawns on the queenside have almost all been exchanged and the white pawns are temporarily contained.
Still dead lost...but 20...Qc7 is just resignation...
just 21.f5 Bd5 22.g4 is the immediate end:)
calling 21...Bd5 blunder is hard... black is really lost with no chance to save the position anymore... anything he plays won't matter. white will enter d6 anyway, with the threat of f5 and g4 (white's king is never in danger even if the position opens on the kingside) to trap the knight AND to attack...
I can see no defense to the black forces. Not even a way to make it difficult for white.
40...Ba2 "This move surprised me". Why? what were you expecting?
This is way past resignation time. Nothing black could do will make things any different.
nice game

Weak opponent!!! Not weak opening :) I know that the choice of opening is a matter of taste, but if you want to try some more tactical openings, go for 1.e4
(Yes it's tactics in 1.d4 too, but it's good for your skills to play both.)
