I thought 7...a5 was an interesting, and reasonably strong move for black. Here are the plusses and negatives as I see it- with the pawn on a5, it very much so slows down your queenside activity, as an immediate, or slightly (a3 ... b4) prepared b4 won't succeed. On the other hand, this eliminates the square of a5, which is often a useful square for the black queen in the KID.
