Just a couple quick thoughts:
You might have given some thought to 18... Qxc1 19. Rxc1 Rxc1, with two rooks and a pin on white's bishop (after 20. Bd1) in exchange for the queen.
38. f3 gives the white king room to breathe and solidifies the g- and e-pawns for the moment as well.
