It depends you know , it depends on lot of stuff , i.e : is the game more closed or the chessboard is more open ? (closed - knight , open - bishop) , the squares which your and your enemy pieces occupy (is your bishop closed ? it cant move ? then try to trade it) depends on the activeness of your pieces .

I rather think goldendog was trying to make a pun to the word 'piece' by using it in the monetary sense: pond, dollar, euro, yen. Maybe it got confusing because he misspelled. Then again, everyone should be aware that americans can't spell. :D :P
