Hi. I haven't studied bishop vs knight in middle game (took bishop vs knight lesson from chessmaster program Josh Watzking academy while ago only).

I lost badly with white pieces (black can't castle) and i want your opinion which piece stands better and why in following position:

Is the Knight on c5 better than bishop on c8 or is opposite? Write a comment before looking at comments below. It will be helpfull if you could analyze whole position.

Stockfish does not think so. Top move is to remove that knight from there as quickly as possible to b3...

After spending some time indeed, that bishop is actually dominating the knight. The reason i think is becouse knight can't go anywhere and it blocks rook on c1 attacking the weak pawn on c7... Thats my explanation.. I played Nf4 but after Kf7! my position got worse and i lost. Just could not move any of my knights or rooks... had no moves. Played g4 but after g6 my positions got even more bad, continued with g5 but after h6 and couple more moves i lost whole piece by great tactic

I would say that the knight is stronger than the bishop.

1. Its centralized.

2. It covers all the squares the bishop can go to.

3. It controls more squares than the bishop (piece activity).

Nb3! Rd7 Rc5! keeps the game OK for white.
