London System with Black playing 3. Ba3?

im not at all sure that i did it correctly. i just cut and pasted the pgn thing and then went thru the game commenting after each move. is this not right?

no, something went wrong badly.
that said, from the thread title, i looked through your games archive and it seems that this is the game you meant - http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=580435014. too bad your original comments are probably lost forever.

Interesting. I probably would have played 4.Nbd2 in order to support c4. b2-b3 is anti-positional when the QB has already been developed. Weakens your dark squares too much. Also the Nd2 can recapture f1, so you can play e4, if Black allows, without loss of O-O privileges. Another way to sidestep this sort of pin is g3+Bg2, but since you have committed your QB to f4, the bishop would be unhappy that its retreat square disappeared. Overall I would say Black's defense is reasonable and I would not expect to achieve too much of an edge.
