More Protective play?

My situation:

I have no opening that I can get along with and end up in the middle game with a fair position. This was an exception.

My queenside was ripped apart. Can I avoid such casualties?

My successful exploitation of the g file was actually luck. I saw the opening but I wasn't sure what to do with it.  Will tactics training here at chess.com help the game foresight I'm lacking?

I have timing issues. Thats why I fail at the 5 minute blitzes. This game was remarkably played with  10:16 on the clock for white and 5:34 for myself. How can I speed up my play with out losing horrifically?

The guy I was playing had (new champ) after his name, I asked him about it and he said it was because he beat the champion of his school chess club. I was disappointed.

Thanks, All feedback, comments and suggestions are encoraged.

recommend against h4 as part of your opening.  also, you might have benefitted by taking off his bishop and castling kingside.

Yea that would have brought use to my darkside bishop too.

Thanks.

One of the most important ideas in chess is to control your center.  I think if you played a little less on the wings and more in the center your game will improve.

Okay I'll try and play more central.

But which pieces are most effective in the center?  is it mainly about horses and pawns?

4 Nf6 didn't serve any purpose since it covered squares which white couldn't currently move to anyway. I would have done 4 Bg4, pinning white's Knight in position, or at least 4 Nc6 to cover e5.

19.Bxg2, or am I missing something?

pip08

Yea.. I had to go for it and hope he didn't pounce on the rook.

Maybe it was a bad idea for me to use a win to be critiqued on. I might post one of my many embarrasing losses up here.

Oh and Circles that pin would have been awesome. But I never saw the opportunity.
