So, without much ado, here is the first-round game:
My tournament (game analysis & feedback required)
Second round I am paired with a player rated lower than mine
ATTENTION: What you see here may damage your chessplaying ability... I tend to play much worse against lower rateds.
I didn't look through the whole game, but 59. Kd6 was an absolute blunder. You could possibly have queened that pawn if you stayed in front and played well. You did well to play like you did against such a higher opponent, but, unless you had already have a draw offer declined a few moves ago, offered a draw after move 58.
Also, moving to the back rank at move 56 or so, was a mistake. Never move to the back rank if you don't have to during this type of endgame. It can become easy to get stuck there.
Thanks manspider29 but I believe that kd8 was more or less forced, otherwise he takes the h6 pawn with check (or is that better than what happened?)
In addition after 59...Kb4 (I assume that is your suggestion) white queens with check and plays Qf1 after f8Q+ K somewhere and wins
Anything else?
By the way, on round 4 on Monday i am playing a 1870 who uses this system setup:
Nf3,d4,b3,g3,c4,Bg2,0-0,Bb2(not in that order)
he also gets in Zeitnot often
What to prepare/have im mind?
I am playing this guy
Alright i think ill give analysis a try. A bit about myself- I am basically an underrated 1500 player, so my analysis may not be the best.
Game 1:
you mentioned after 5th move to try Kingside Fiancheto. I respectfully disagree, since your weakening dark squares on the Kingside (especially when ...e6 and ...c6 played already). I don't see anything wrong with the structure itself, it looks like semi-slav, where the light bishop (for you) is hard to treat. I don't know if I am right but 8...Qc7 is waste of move (unless you are preparing eventual ...e5). Objectively I would have gone b6, with the intention of Bb7 to neutralize the White Bishop on g2. I Don't like 10...Bb4 because it violates the principles of moving same piece twice while not fully developed. Maybe 10...dxc4 followed by ...b5?
you played the middlegame well, apart from allowing White's e5!. Your analysis of White's 29th move shows you have some understanding of the position. Kudos to that. I won't go deep into endgame as you stated you only had 2 mins left and manspider29 did cover stuff.
Game 2: French exchange. 4...c5 is playable, but Black has to be willing to accept isolated pawn for active pieceplay. I smell something wrong after Black's 7...Qb6. Maybe 8. Qe2 was worth a try, followed by harassing the pin if he blocks. Again 11. Qe2+ Be6 12. Nd5 was worth a shot. Middlegame - your the attacker, you shouldn't trade queens unless its absolutely winning. It seems like you understand the blunders there too. Anyway if you want to add a huge question mark, add it to Black's 38th move!
Game 3- Ouch you prepared your benoni, but he didn't even try for it. I am no Queen's Gambit player but from my knowledge, as White you want to refrain from moving the light bishop so in future you can take on c4 with the bishop. so Maybe 6. Nc3...?
Move 15, why did he trade queens - well it seems like your threatening Bd3 (hitting h7). Trading queens is the only way to stop it without making a commital pawn move.
Why no 28. Nd6?
your comments indicate your playing against your opponent's clock. Don't do that, just play your own chess. I don't know if 34. Nxc6 is the best way to treat the offside knight, but it seems like you did play well for an ending.
Thanks for showing me (and the chess gang) the games. It was really instructive as well. as for the Nf3,d4,b3,g3,c4,Bg2,0-0,Bb2 structure, can you post the exact moves played?

That is my round 4 opponent, you can see his setups and i am open to advice!
Thanks Oraoradeki for your time!
28.Nd6 on game three is something I'd play, so ooooops...
I never play against my opponent's clock- just mentioning the time situation(I always write the time on my scoresheet- i learned that from Dan Heisman)
On game two, I believe black has no better move on move 38 than the one he played- or did i miss something again?
Anyway, thaks for your time!
Hello. I am a 14-year-old chessplayer from Greece rated 1538 and I decided to join up for a tournament (136th open of SOA) just one day before it started...
The tournament was a small one with only 30 players rated 1000-2100. I was a little under the midpoint so got paired on board 3 for the first round. I had 1 and a half month to play serious chess and had to play someone rated 2000?!
This thred is for giving me feedback , answering my questions and generally helping. My goal in this tournament was precisely to gain some rating points but also to play some strong players and gain experience.
Thanks to everyone!
