Who is up in this position?

LordJones3rd

oops... two black bishops

OpeningGambit

What are you doing with tow black bishops?  Impossible position, I don't know why you have put it on here.  Trying to waste my time?

Not impossible, a pawn can promote to a bishop, if the pawn is place on a black square you will get a black squared bishop.

Bruiser419

IMO, Black is up.  He will take at least one of the knights probably, and two bishops and a king can mate a king, while two knights can't.   I would think it's in Black's best interest also to get rid of White's Rook, even if he has to trade rooks.  The bishops can patrol the dark squares and eat up the pawns and Black should eventually prevail.

But I'm not that good, so don't listen to me haha.

David_Spencer

Surely you can't mate with king and two bishops on the same color?

Sorry, yes it is actually possible, of course, but unlikely.  Why would you promote to a Black Bishop in this kind of position (or any in fact).

You could be rubbish

Two knights and a king can force a mate.

Kupov

Not without pawns.

Tom

I'm sorry, but I do not see the point in this post.  What are you trying to say LordJones3rd?  It is labeled "not my game" and the position is highly unlikely, I see no significance so where are you going with this?  After we say who is up in this position, then what?

Yes, without pawns you can still checkmate the enemy king with 2 knights and a king.

Kupov

No you can not.

LordJones3rd

'not my game' attracts attention, so more people will comment on it

I am not going to argue with a 1300 player about the fact that you can mate with 2 knights and a king.  It is most certainly possible, you have to lead him into a corner,  I am right, you are wrong, nuff said.

you can put the pieces in a position where checkmate has been done with two knights, but not if you follow chess rules-the king will have to move into check to make it possible

Tom

I have seen a post on this site that shows how to mate with a king and 2 knights. It takes a lot of cooperation from your opponent and he has to blunder; but it is legally possible, especially if your opponent has a pawn on the board in the right place.  If the opponent does not blunder and walk into it, then it ends as a draw.

You didn't say 'can' mate. You said 'force' mate. Two knights can not force checkmate.
