I think this game was quite interesting, I had a strong position but I threw away my advantage with a good move made too quickly.

27. ... g5 jumps out at me as a mistake. I would prefer 27. ... h5 to limit white's ability to get the knight back in the game. You can put pawns on f6, g6, and h5 with support from your king. That looks like a tough nut to crack.

jlark- Any move leads to checkmate. 36..Bxd5 delays checkmate for a turn, but still loses.

 

loomis- I agree 27...g5 is a mistake. I definatly lost my concentration after making that mistake earlier. I agree h5 definatly improves my chances. however I still think I would of been at the disadvantage with my bad bishop.

Im curious how play would of came out after 20...Bd7!?

I would try 27...Kf8 with the idea of Ke7 to protect d6. If White plays Ng4-Ne3, then Black has g6. White could try Bxc5 and if Black play Rxc5, White has Rc2. If Black plays Rxc2+, White's plan is Ng4-Ne3-Nc2-Nxb4. Instead, Black should let White play Rxc5 and reply dxc5 and then play Bb7-Ba6 to keep White's king out of c4. Notice e5 can be held with f6 when needed.

In the end, it all came down to the minor pieces. White's knight was a beast. Black's bishop was pathetic. Here's what I thought.
