Pawn structure Caro-Kann

Hi all,

I have started studying the pawn structures. In particular I am interested into possible Caro-Kann pawn structures. Most of the games I obtain the following one, which I was not able to any explanations online. However I would like to understand whether there are typical plans to follow on this structure.

Thank you in advance to who will help me!

This is the Carlsbad structure, which usually arises with colors reversed in the Exchange Variation of the QGD. It has been well studied and there is a wealth of information available about the plans for both sides. "Pawn Structure Chess" by GM Andrew Soltis has a section on it, as does "Chess Structures" by GM Mauricio Flores Rios. If you prefer videos, search YouTube for "GM Talks Carlsbad Structure", and you will find a 3 hour course by Danish GM Sune Berg Hansen that goes into depth on how to play the structure for both sides.

Congratulations on starting to study pawn structures: it's a sure way to improve your chess understanding, and your results.
