This is a game (30 minutes) I've just played.

Thanks for the analysis! I'll have to look more into Alekhine-Chatard attack theory and the lines you suggested will be very helpful. Rxh7 certainly was a crushing improvement and I should have considered it during the game. I played e6 rather quickly and I broke the basic rule of looking for a better move after finding a good one.

Laenina - Thanks for submitting the game!  Be careful against this anti-sicillian.  It can be quite tricky not to lose something in the first 5 moves.

Hi Laenina,

I need to add a comment to your game after my Qxc5 comment on move 3. White would not be up a full pawn as I mentioned but he would have succeeded in changing the ideas away from the sicillian.  There are at least three master level games that have gone that way.

Which leads me to re-post the guidelines for this thread...  Games must be 30 minutes per side or longer and human vs human with a rating under 2000.  Make sure to add both name and rating to your post.  Thx.

Laenina

thanks for analysing my game, it helps a lot, even if i admit my opponent made me a lot of gifts and didn't see some of my mistakes.

Hi eglun!  I am a Vojislav fan.  I've played him several times in the ICC.  I hope he doesn't mind me butchering an analysis of his game, because I'm going to give it a try :D  Was this game part of a simul?

@ LoekBergman - When playing the benoni, it is difficult to get your mind away from pure defense.  Think on that next time this opening comes up and look hard for your moments.

Here's a game from my second USCF rated tournament. Although my rating after my first tournament was 2021, I was technically still unrated because my first tournament only lasted three games and the USCF doesn't publish ratings until after four games.

THANKS FOR ANALYSING!

PLS ANALYSE MY GAME

LoekBergman

Thanks for the analysis, Heister. It learns me to look better at the first moves of the Benoni and keep looking to more activity.

In this game I did not see any possibility to play more active. Which is also the reason that I posted this game. :-)

This is a beautiful game of Shirov in which he crushes the Benko Gambit by playing b6?! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFIMzKxWQR4

Interesting idea of dxe5 next Nd4. I should have played that. Thank you!

@ TheGreatOogieBoogie - I had a game as black in the same structure that went for almost 200 moves before we agreed to a draw.  The chessmaster I was playing ashamedly admitted that he only played on because he thought I would make a mistake.  We tore up all the score sheets but kept page 1.

The opponent was almost 2000 and both defeated and drew a 2050 later that day so technically an expert.  Yeah have to agree!  I played e5 since it looked like the only move to freeze the e-pawn in place since a Bg5 with an e5 pawn is nasty.  As a Botvinnik Slav variation player as white (I thought I invented it before finding out it is book) I know black sometimes has ways around it though but couldn't find one.  I also missed the Nxd5 tactic but was afraid of the queen exchange and his bishop going to c7.  The a-pawn plan to fix the a3 pawn was too slow (besides if white pawn to a4 the pawn is even more exposed there) agreed but it was the only clear plan I could find in the position.  Still have to not miss those h4 strikes in the future, especially if I think I'm saddling the opponent with a bad g3 bishop.

The Bg4 didn't seem right but if I can't find anything better I usually go with the least active piece to the most forward available square.  Now actually finding better when I have it is where a lot of chess skill comes into play.

Again and thanks! =)

Vojislav Vs. eglun

@ eglun - Might want to re-visit your method of handling the grand prix attack from white.  You left all the strong players behind at move 4!  That's pretty early to be out of book.

Comments appreciated under this Championship game. Laughing

@Miha: You being a fan of Schumacher should love to play this game. It is a Grand Prix attack!
