@FromMuToYou - In chess there are three kinds of thought techniques.  Forward thinking, backward thinkging, and a combination of techniques.  We use forward thinking the most often - If I do this, then he does this, and then I do this.  The endgame often requires backward thinking  or a combination of techniques to play the correct moves.  You - in a sense - visualize the final position to be achieved, and then find the path that leads you there by playing backwards to the current position.  This is a skill that I have taught in the past, but I reserve those lessons for paid customers :p.  Unfortunately, I don't take on paid customers anymore.. so you'll have to find a book.  Good luck!

There were some very interesting drawing chances in this game. Going back from the one heister pointed out,

38...Kf5 instead of 38...Rc6 (this one should draw in more than one ways)

Going further back, 34...R*c2 intead of 34...g5 should also lead to a draw.

And finally this move...

@Xwarrior - the final position with a 3 v 2 majority is a technical draw due to the position of the kings.  As to your second position, your error was Bd7.  Play Kf8 instead and then see that your a8 rook is protected by tactic.

@ xwarrior - I was about to analyze your 20 10 game, but realized that it is too short for the time constraints.  The guideline has to stay in place of at least 30 minutes per side.  Sry :(.

@ all - There are a couple of rules as to which games I will take the time to look at.  1. At least 30 minutes per side 2. Human Vs Human 3. Rating under 2000 in your federation or online (The third rule is the only rule I have broken in the past, and will break again in the future as soon as I get to Blueemu's game).

@Laree91 - There is just one moment in this game where you need to put some heavy work.  Figure out what caused you to play e5, whether it was emotional, psychological or physical (had to go to the bathroom?).  Then figure out how not to do it anymore.

Can you compare to my game ebfore and see if I improved. I will try to find out how to add comentary so I can help you.

heister

@ Blueemu - You missed his idea of NxP, but you didn't miss the sequence of moves that refuted his idea.  Maybe we can say that your intuition knew that you didn't have to look at NxP in the first place.  Good game.

blueemu

Thanks for the analysis. When I said that "I missed Nxg5 completely", I didn't just mean that I thought that the g-Pawn was defended by my h-Pawn... I mean that I literally didn't see that the move Nxg5 was legal!

Luckily, I didn't panic; and I found the very strong shot ... Nd4 in reply.

The position after 31. ... b5 was rather humorous... I only have two Pawns left, and they've trapped his Queen against the side of the board and are mugging her.

Would you prefer that I didn't submit any further games, since my rating is somewhat above the 2000-point cut-off that you mentioned earlier?

You can send them to me privately if you want to discuss them.  You should probably be analyzing other player's games on this particular thread ;).  Trying to gear it toward improving the population of 1000-2000 rated players.

Your game was fun though!

I'll take over and analyze a few games but I can't promise the same quality annotation that heister offers.

I like to play the open sicilian and considered it a good starting point. Until this game, when my opponent played the pin variation. How to counter that?

Thank you very much for your remarks! I think that it is really awesome what you give to other chess players!
