This is a game I played recently. I played white and as I always do I opened d4. I made two definite blunders in this game, both which I should have easily avoided. But I feel like there are probably a lot of places I can improve my thinking. If the extent of your comments are going to be "wow, you suck" or the like kindly refrain from commenting; I know that I suck at this game and I am trying to get better. Thank you everyone.

Instead of 8. Bd2 you can play 8. axb5 cxb5 9. Qf3 threatening Qxf7 and Qxa8

Thank you Loomis. I am looking at that and see how it would have been a very strong sequence. I still have trouble seeing the whole board and often in games like this one get zoned in one specific area. As a result I sometimes fail to see how a square away from the action can have such a profound impact on the situation

3. e3 , move is ok and i hope that u are not playing it just for the trap cos better and more agressive move is e4 cos that is not closing diagonal on your black bishop. Going only for traps will just stop you from progressing as a player ( as i see it )

9. Nxd7 You say that now you have advantige cos u have 2 bishops but rly that is not true cos u swaped your central ( great ) knight for very poor black white bishop

19. Why are u trying to trade queens ? as u say there is no advantige, and you will get isolated peon in centar, you cant attack black peon on a5 cos u have white bishop

23. You are out of moves

25. b4 you have tryed to resolve problems too quickly and now u have passed peon problem

28. exchange is not good for you cos u cant control a1 with your white bishop, it will be hard to stop queening

33. You are back in game with some nice chances

52. Rf4 is the move ! defending your peon and his will fall on next move

You played ok, but oponent was playing better but this game is very good cos you can see the 2 main problems of your play : 1. going for traps and that will hurt you in long term and 2. unneeded exchanges and for that you need confidence in your abilities

hope this will help you

thank you for your comments mirk. You make a lot of excellent points. That I will definitely try to incorporate into my thinking. I definitely see your points about trying to resolve things too quickly and making unnecessary or even damaging exchanges.

thank you for the analysis Closeau! I look forward to seeing the rest of it if you choose to continue.

I definitely where I made some moves entirely too late (and how trading off my knight for the bishop, which seemed good to me, was really atrocious.)

Closeau, and everyone else, thank you for the insight into this game. I know that I have a lot to learn and need to rethink a lot of things regarding how I played this and other games. I will be posting more games in the future and would love to hear your insights again!
