I think hanging the queen 3 times could inditate where you need to improve.
Quite equal game. How to get the upper hand?
In this opening (the Pirc) I have found that my Bishops are usually not well placed on c4 and f4. The usually end up being kicked by advancing black pawns. Also, it's very common for White to play an early h3 in this opening to limit Black's Bishop. So your note at move seven is right on.
On move 32, since Black's N on c4 is pinned, 32.Qd2 isn't really a big blunder, is it? 36.Rcd2 was a blunder.
Thanks for your reply!
You are absolutely right about the move 32. Qd2, where the knight is pinned and therefore it is no blunder, missed that in my analysis, but not in the game :)
It's been said a bunch here, but h3 is definitely thematic against the Pirc.
Against the Pirc, an f4 is really good, a la Austrian Attack. That being said, if Black answers your e4 with d6, Nf3 isn't your best reply. Look up the Austrian Attack, and you'll find some ideas against the position Black played. Overall, the lack of an advanced f-pawn really robbed you of any counterplay on the kingside, which is generally what White aims for against the Pirc.
But yeah. h3 and f4 at the end of the day.
Here is a game I played recently, quite equal until the end where I made some blunders due to time trouble, remarkably two of them were unpunished.
But it is what a bit back and forth not a lot of attacking really, so do you have any ideas for my attack? And what about the opening did I not get the best start with heavy domination of the centre? And what do you think in general of this game, and what is there to improve for me?
I am playing white.
