Wat i find anoying is when u play a hard game and once the other guy sees hes not going to win he resigns.  To me it makes my vitory seem less earnt.Yell Y resign

Some people consider it disrespectful to one's opponent not to resign if the position is clearly lost.

Some people might think you look stupid if you don't resign.  Like you don't even realize you're losing so bad that it's hopeless.

No, you still get zero points by resigning. I resign because I don't see the point of wasting my time playing a lost game. I don't believe that this is disrespectful, but more respectful than continuing. I think of it as saying "You have played well to create this winning position, and I trust in your ability to win, so I shall admit defeat."

 Elegantly stated. This is how we tip our hats to an opponent who has played well. It is more graceful than simply neglecting lost games to the edge of time control to try to manipulate our ratings. Such strategy is akin to irresponsible subprime mortgages.
