The Dumont Chess Club! I played in their championship back in 1994, when I worked in North Jersey. Played pretty badly too, as I recall. Do they still get a good turnout of masters and experts for their championship?

White is playing the critical Four Pawns variation in the Kings Indian--critical because if it were really good, the KI would be much more rarely played. 6...c5! is the book move, for obvious reasons. Black's choice seems passive.

It's tricky, deciding what to play on move 13. 13.Nd5 looks tempting, but cxd5 is also very nice, guaranteeing a nice space edge and a protected passed pawn. But your choice looks fine. But I'm not sure about 15.Qb3. I like 15.Rc1. e.g. 15...Nc5 16.Qd2 with a possible b4! in your future. I like 16.Rac1 as well.

I definitely disagree with your 17.Bxc5. You are giving Black a chance to grab total control of the precious c-file, while giving up the two bishops.  As a general rule, the player with a space advantage (you!) should avoid exchanges that tend to relieve the cramped position. And there are no special tactical reasons here to overrule  that. If your opponent had found 18....Rxc1 19.Rxc1 Qg5! you would have been unhappy.

So, what was the outcome?

I won.
