Sacrificial Play
Nice plan, I didn't see that.
Still, Nxd4 seemed strong enough that even if he chose not to take the knight, his position would be lost anyway.
Ke1 loses the key bishop in his defense.
Kf1 leads to a fork and White loses his Queen anyway.
Kf2 leads to Qh4, Rg4, Bd1+ (another sacrifice!), Kxd1, Qxg4+, and his position crumbles further.
He probably took the knight in hopes of Qxb2# but didn't realize you had mate...all in all, a good game. I enjoyed watching it.
I'm sure if you go through with an engine most of those are probably blunders but I gotta admit, it's pretty badass to watch a guy go gung-ho sacking stuff to win.
Whoa, who raised this from the ground?
I hardly remember any of my games from that long ago, but this one still makes me chuckle.
The time control was 10 minutes dead.
I was going to sac something that turn, either way. It was either the knight or the bishop, and I figured the knight would be a better follow up than the bishop. Oddly enough, I didn't notice that I had enough pieces to take on e4, otherwise I would've played a much more uniform game. Somehow though, I'm glad I didn't.
