This position is terrifyingly bad. apparently so is my grammar. Polynomiography is fun. Halloween Variation... boo!

You didn't post a game or even a puzzle, that's just a single diagram.  I can't imagine how this position was arrived at.  It's pretty absurd.

Excuse an old pedant for pointing something out....

The position is impossible if the white king stands on d1 (the bishops would have been unable to move), therefore the white king must stand on e8 (after all black is at the bottom of the diagram). This also throws up problems though, like how did all those pawns move past each other with so few captures? This truly is a difficult puzzle, and one requiring much careful thought and retro-analysis. Laughing

Come on people! think outside the box! Wink

This is a work of genius - boxes fell by the wayside a long time ago with this kind of thinking. I've submitted it to Tate Modern and expect it to be on show permanently within a couple of days.

It spells BOO! people... I'm glad some people think that I have a creative way at looking at things, but really just look at the pieces... MAD crazy Mad not mad mad by the way....

boo... happy upcoming halloween

Seems like it's just misposted in the "Game Analysis" Forum.

Enough with the box!  We don't even know how big the box is, what it's made of, or what is already INSIDE the box!  What if the best answer is inside the box?  Why would we bother to look outside then?

Gah!

MsCloyescapade

its cardboard, in an alley and its raining. The best answer inside the box is too soggy to appreciate...    AND MY NAME CHANGED!!! Thanks! Chess.com...

Unless you look outside the box, you can't be sure that the best solution contained within the box, is indeed the best solution. Expand your mind, Maaan!

I think that this is a very creative use of the pieces to spell out a halloween message. Way to go!

Unless you're a mathematician, in which case you can be sure that given a certain starting point, you have arrived at a general solution (if you have, that is).

Then, if you're a philosopher, you might argue that the solution was only provided within a rigid and predetermined framework, and that its general applicability is only valid in its own terms.

Also, I didn't actually notice that the pieces spell b o o...edit the original post so there's more contextual pointing, otherwise I just look at the board and start thinking about weak points in white's position. Maybe the title of the thread could be "BOO! That's B O O to you, if you have eyes to see it! I said boo."

MsCloyescapade

maybe...

maybe you could've left us with your hilarious Tate Modern reference and left on a high note. la
