Short Game, need some help analysing the end

So apart from a horribly played game on my part (black), I've looked it over a few times, trying out different things, but since I'm pretty bad I want to get some second opinions.

In my opinion, the game started going backwards very fast with my 8.Ne4 move. even d5 or h6 would have been better here.

But here is my real question, lets say I saw the forced mate, and responded with 14.Qe7, would that have stopped that train dead in its tracks or I'm I just delaying the inevitable?

A few lower level thoughts from me. I hope they help and are not just ramblings!! Smile

Thanks for the insightful comments.

Missed the Bishop move, nice find. But if I was white, I'd rather respond like this.

That h pawn really makes life difficult for black.

Gah I just posted a bunch of other variations, but they have disappeared into the ether!!! I see what you are saying with the "free pawn" but I did manage to get black into a better postion twice through variations of 15... Na3 instead of trading queens. However this required a bit more tightrope walking than the queen trade. I also played around with the idea of 11...Bxh4 to remove the threat of the pawn. I just don't want to redo that whole board again right now sorry. Gah.... why did it do that?!?!

I saw those too, and I appricate it. But since the damage has been done, and chances are I'll be in such a situation (even though I'll do my best not to make such pointless moves again or land in such a situtation again). I'm more intersted at the moment in damage control.

But since you went to the trouble, I'll analyze those in deeper depth as well ;) Let me do that now.

@zaXeno

No worries mate. Just out of curiosity, what was the plan with 1...f5? I haven't really looked into any of these variations as I know that if I play them my game will fall apart (as you can see from my wavering analysis!).

@JamesColeman

No offence taken, I like to be pointed out where I am wrong Smile I was thinking about ways to remove that knight that caused so many problems down the line.

Here is some of my other thoughts.

@disgruntled_sheep

I'll be honest, I was feeling a bit lazy, I kinda used the game explorer like a blind fool without putting real thought into the moves themselves, once the game explorer stopped giving me options, my game fell apart fast. First and last time I'll do that.
