The stength of a well protected center became very apparant to me in this game.
Did I trade queens to early or did I eliminate his only threat?

Your center pawns are monstrous and all he has besides a material deficit is a flaccid attack to speak of. Trading queens would be a plan even if his queen was squatting around someplace else ... trade when ahead is not an absolute, but in your case, it sure makes your life easier.
